Dear Borah Families,
It has been a wonderful start to the school year here at Borah! From our Welcome to the Jungle Assembly and lunchtime tailgate, where students enjoyed complimentary chips and hot dogs, to our Back to School Celebration and the engaging, challenging instruction happening in our classrooms, the energy around campus has been fantastic.
At Borah, our priorities are simple: to provide a safe and welcoming school community where every student feels connected and has a trusted adult they can turn to. We also want Borah to be a place where families feel welcome and connected to our school. Throughout the year, we’ll provide opportunities for you to be on campus, celebrate our students, and experience the great things happening at Borah.

This week, students engaged in an Estimation Lab designed to explore the power of making reasonable predictions. Rather than simply searching for an exact answer, students engaged with a variety of real world and hands on estimation challenges involving distance, mass, volume, time, cost, area, and quantity. They used benchmarks, proportional reasoning, visual models, and mathematical assumptions to develop and defend their estimates, then evaluated how close their predictions were to reality. |
Building Thinking Classrooms has transformed how Mrs. Washburn’s Chemistry students approach challenging problems. Working together at whiteboards has strengthened classroom community, increased engagement and perseverance, and encouraged students to explain their thinking and learn from one another.
The approach has also reduced quiz anxiety, given students more time to think critically, and allowed Mrs. Washburn to quickly identify where students need support. Most importantly, it creates more opportunities for meaningful conversations and connections with every student.

The Borah Boosters, our parent group at Borah, would love to have you join them at their meetings this year!
The Boosters meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 12:30 p.m. in the Counselor Office Green Room. Meetings include updates from Mr. McKenna about upcoming school events and activities, as well as conversations about ways the Boosters can support our students and staff.
The Borah Boosters play an important role in our school community and help plan and organize events such as the Senior Party and Teacher Appreciation Luncheon.

We changed our traditional Back to School Night format this year to make it more of a community and family event. We showcased our students and programs, welcomed food trucks, and introduced important members of our office staff.
Thank you so much for attending and supporting Borah! Our goal is to create value in the events we host and bring as many families to campus as possible throughout the school year.

The Class of 2027 kicked off the school year bright and early at 6:00 AM with Senior Sunrise! It was a wonderful opportunity for students to build camaraderie, strengthen connections and community within their class. What a great way to start their senior year! |
Borah Dance provides our athletes with an incredible experience, outstanding coaching, and the opportunity to grow both on and off the floor. This year’s team is led by an exceptional group of seniors who bring talent, leadership, and dedication to the program. We are excited to watch them compete and represent Borah High! |
On August 15, the Borah Volleyball Program, led by Coach Brown, hosted a jamboree. The event was incredibly well-run and provided a great opportunity for our athletes to compete, grow, and support one another at a high level.
Our Junior Varsity team is pictured below. We are proud of the way our volleyball program represented Borah and demonstrated the teamwork and school spirit that make Borah special!

All Borah student-athletes are required to purchase an ASB sticker, which helps directly fund Borah athletics and our sports programs.
Borah Athletes Grades 10 - 12: $30 ASB Sticker
9th Grade Athletes: $18 discounted ASB sticker (required even if an ASB sticker was purchased at their junior high)
Homeschool/Non-Borah Athletes: $30 ASB sticker

Attendance Matters! Students must attend at least 90% of each semester (no more than 9 absences) to earn credit. Seven (7) or more tardies may also result in loss of credit. Students arriving more than 20 minutes late are counted as absent.
Excused absences (parent-approved, including illness without a doctor's note, family vacations, and personal/family matters) still count toward the 9-day attendance limit.
Medically excused absences with verified medical documentation do not count toward the attendance limit.
Families wishing to appeal attendance-related loss of credit must submit an appeal within five school days of receiving notification of the student's 10th absence.
