Welcome from the Athletic Director & Principal
Welcome to the 2016-17 Borah Athletic Season! We look forward to our many exciting athletic events this year as our Lion student-athletes engage in thrilling contests with the best interscholastic competition in the Boise area and throughout the state of Idaho.
Borah High School has a rich history in athletics. We've earned countless SIC & State Championships, and have had numerous college athletes, and several professional athletes, play on our teams. Student-athletes here have the chance to compete against top opponents, get great exposure, and work with incredible coaches who are often their teachers off the field. Our students learn how to push themselves harder and farther than they ever imagined possible.
Our interscholastic athletics program is an important part of the educational experience at our school. We are honored to be able to offer quality learning experiences beyond the classroom through participation in athletics as an extra-curricular school activity in conjunction with the IHSAA. We work hard to ensure that the members of each of our Lion athletic teams will always conduct themselves according to our core values of respect, dignity, honesty, responsibility, and teamwork.
Our commitment to sports is reflected in our diverse offerings (17 varsity teams, most of which have sub-varsity and Junior High School counterparts); widespread participation (over 30 percent of our student body participates in at least one sport each year); and level of competitive success.
All of our student-athletes have access to top-notch facilities that include: four gymnasiums (our “new gym” has the largest seating capacity of any high school in the state of Idaho and is the home of the Boys 4A State Basketball Tournament), a natural-grass soccer pitch, a state of the art baseball facility (which was voted the best in the state of Idaho) and indoor hitting facility, a new all-weather eight lane track, two weight rooms, the Dona Larsen Football field located in beautiful downtown Boise, two fantastic softball fields, a completely padded two mat wrestling room & our “old gym” which has been tailored specifically for wrestling matches, the use of the beautiful Hillcrest Country Club Golf Course, six resurfaced all-weather tennis courts, and a large sports medicine facility (see our gallery for pictures). Student-athletes are also supported by outstanding human resources: our coaching staff includes close to 90 coaches, an athletic director, two assistant athletic directors, three certified athletic trainers, a team doctor, and three certified strength and conditioning coaches.
We greatly appreciate your attendance at all Borah High School athletic contests and trust that you will cheer heartily for the Lions, displaying high energy, excitement, and the sportsmanship that Borah is known for. Our Borah Rowdies have won the Sportsmanship award four times in the last five years.
We encourage you to check us out in person, on Social Media , or in the sports pages and see what our student-athletes are up to.
