Richard Grassler

Camber Orchestra Symphonic Orchestra

ORCHESTRA

BORAH PERFORMING ARTS DEPARTMENT

Continuing the rich tradition of Music Performance at Borah High School, both orchestras will be active in performing thru out the community.

Whether students are pursuing a performance career or gaining performing experience which will in fact help develop them into a well-rounded adult,

instrumental music will help any student grow and reach their maximum

potential.

REQUIREMENTS:
CO-CURRICULAR PARTICIPATION EXPECTATIONS

Students, Parents and Guardians understand that all In-Class Activities requirements are expected to be met:

1.) Students will participate;

2.) Students will be prepared;

3.) Students will dedicate necessary home time (practicing) to succeed;

4.) Students recognize that they are part of a group, and that each student must contribute their fair share of effort and diligence for the good of the entire program.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR PARTICIPATION EXPECTATIONS

Students, Parents and Guardians understand that all Outside-Of-Class Activities requirements are very important to the whole group and that each member relies on every other member to meet this expectation:

1.) Concerts are VERY important and EVERY effort will be made to attend;

2.) Outside-Of-Class Preparation is VERY important and proper time and care will have to be dedicated for EVERYONES benefit;

3.) If possible, private lessons are strongly encouraged, and hopefully lessons are seen as an enjoyable part of playing a musical instrument.

EXPECTATIONS CONCERNING TRANSPORTATION

Students, Parents and Guardians understand that there are times when students will have to ride in District-Provided-Transportation and that students need both permission to ride on contracted buses AND students will adhere to good, common-sense behavior to maintain a high standard of safety and punctuality

1.) Students will obey ALL Boise School District Rules, Policies and Accepted Procedures when traveling as is mandated in ALL School District Regulations;

2.) Students will arrive On-Time at Designated Departure Areas;

3.) Students do In-Fact have their Parents and/or Guardians permission to ride on district buses, and perhaps chartered buses.

GRADING POLICIES:

Concert participation is and should be the majority percent of the

semester grade, and performance attendance is mandatory, albeit, it

is fully realized that there could always be extenuating circumstances

(these will be handled on a case-by-case basis).

CONCERT DRESS:

Nice black clothing for males and females.

RECOMMENDED:

I would personally recommend private lessons for all orchestra

members with area teachers if possible.

In-Home Practice is ESSENTIAL as well; please come to appreciate how important it is for ALL students to master their music for the benefit of the entire ensemble and the ENTIRE program.

TRIPS:

Student Orchestra Councils are exploring options. There are fund-raising activities planned throughout the year to hopefully raise all necessary funds.

T-SHIRTS:

This year’s design has been selected by students and will soon be

available.
